BEER – HOW AN EVERYDAY DRINK ACHIEVED CULT STATUS
In recent years, Austrian beer and related specialties have become top culinary products. Alcohol levels between 5-8% make beer the perfect accompaniment for meals and an enjoyable drink in its own right. In fact, particularly in the top-flight hospitality segment, beer has become something of a culinary star.
The market is booming, and Austria's many creative artisanal beer producers and microbreweries have helped make the country one of the most successful in Europe when it comes to beer. The four episodes of this documentary explore the history and traditions of beer brewing, regional differences around Austria, the various types of beer available and the role of beer in both culinary and social heritage.
A co-operation of Interspot Film and ORF funded by the Austrian Television Fund and Cinestyria, in association with Bierland Österreich, Landwirtschaftskammer Wien, Land Burgenland, Land Oberösterreich, Genussland Oberösterreich and the Southern Styrian Wine Trail.
